Searchers are usually comparing UV beds, red light tanning, spray tan options, session duration, and skin type suitability.
Excessive UV exposure increases skin cancer risk. Follow the venue's recommended session frequency and always use provided eye protection. Consult a dermatologist if you have a history of skin conditions.
Use these questions to compare venues before booking. For clinical services, ask about credentials, screening, and follow-up care.
UV tanning uses ultraviolet lamps to stimulate melanin production. Red light tanning uses infrared and red wavelengths without UV — it can improve skin tone and vitamin D pathways without UV exposure. Spray tan is a cosmetic application. Many venues offer more than one method — check the services listed on the venue page.
UV session length depends on skin type — fair skin types (Fitzpatrick I–II) should start with 2–5 minutes and increase gradually. Venues should assess your skin type before your first session and recommend appropriate exposure. Always use eye protection provided by the venue.
Venues provide eye protection (goggles) which must be worn during UV sessions. Bring or apply tanning lotion appropriate for the bed type — outdoor lotion blocks the UV. Most studios sell compatible indoor tanning lotion. Wear minimal clothing or what you are comfortable with in a private booth.
